An indulgent apartment for two, moments away from the beach. Coastguards Watch is ideal for exploring the charms of the historic harbour town of Falmouth and it’s famously captivating surrounding area.

Named for its former life as one of the Coastguards cottages, with a view stretching out across Falmouth Bay, that must surely be the best in town. This contemporary apartment is nestled on the side of Pendennis Point, where the Tudor fort of Pendennis Castle gazes out over the clear waters of Falmouth Bay and the River Fal. Spacious and with a creative flair, this one-bedroom nautical chic, holiday home occupies the first floor of the former cottage.

Stay here and enjoy being just a minute or so’s walk from Falmouth’s elevated Victorian promenade and sweeping ocean views. Set off from the doorstep to explore the Cornish coastal path, or wander to one of Falmouth’s quays and take ferry trips out over the harbour to St Mawes, Truro or the Helford River.

A south-facing balcony runs the length of the property with seating providing a spot to sit and look towards the sea. Internally this apartment has all the bells and whistles, including a kitchen to suit the most discerning of chefs. Out of season, Coastguards Watch is the permanent home for its design-conscious owners, so expect all the home comforts and beautiful decor during your stay.

From wandering into town in the morning for a delicious breakfast, to evening walks watching the moonlight dance across the surface of the sea, Coastguards Watch is a brilliant base to sit beside the beach and enjoy Falmouth.

Location and Surrounding Area

With so much to explore in the Falmouth area, you’ll have the best of Cornwall on your doorstep. Boat trips from Falmouth allow all manner of places to be explored on foot, from the fishing town of St Mawes to the quaint village of Flushing. Aspiring captains can hire boats from Custom House Quay and follow their own route around the Fal estuary and all it’s creeks and coves.

Falmouth has three beautiful beaches to enjoy, all a short walk from Coastguards Watch. Castle Beach is the closest, with a cafe and rockpools. Gyllyngvase Beach is the largest and enjoys a brilliant beachside restaurant and cafe along with golden sand. During the summer it is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards making for a safe spot to swim in the sea. Further along the coast path you’ll find Swanpool beach, with a watersports centre for hiring kayaks/paddleboards, instructor led days and some of the best ice-cream in town.

A short drive away is the Helford River, part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The waters here are some of the purest in the country and are idyllic for wild swimming. This totally unspoilt area of Cornwall is charming in all seasons.

The South West Coast Path runs through Falmouth and can be joined from the seafront. Walks here will take you along the breath-taking coastline that makes Cornwall famous. Plenty of cafe’s, restaurants and country pubs line the way, for you to stop into for refreshment, or to plan the next part of the adventure.

After all your adventuring dine al-fresco on the balcony and unwind, or head into Falmouth and see why it’s reputation as a foodie hub in the south-west is so well deserved. You’ll find food for all tastes, from award-winning fish and chips to tapas and almost everything in-between.
