Summary
* New addition – for stays during July and August – launching 30.05.22 *
Faoi (from the Gaelic pronounced Fwee) is an attractive, Art Deco beach villa, built in the early 1930s, by the owner of the town’s steam laundry. Now the home of a local family who will be off on their own travels during the summer weeks, the doors of Faoi are open for you to come and enjoy the glorious position and the warmth of this fabulous, carefully crafted house and pretty garden.
The waves breaking on the soft, golden sands of Gyllyngvase beach, 300 metres down the hill, can be heard from two bedrooms. Join Falmouth’s dawn dippers for a sunrise swim, hire a paddleboard from WeSUP and explore nearby coves, or maybe take a run around Pendennis headland to get your day off to an energetic, soul-enriching start.
The house is airy, well-lit and beautifully proportioned, having been recently and lovingly modernised, (complete with retrofit insulation and passive air circulation).
The magical, rambling garden is a lush haven for wildlife with several sun-kissed glades, enchanting birdsong and bright blossom. Envisage yourself enjoying fresh croissants and a holiday read in the morning sunshine amongst the verdant greenery and as the day turns to dusk, with mackerel roasting on the barbeque and you and your favourite people, with sun-kissed skin and salty hair, all smiles fresh from the day’s jollities. This is the beauty of this house, just yards from the clear, sparkling waters of Gylly beach.
The town centre is an interesting fifteen-minute stroll away (via Fox Rosehill Gardens and Falmouth university) whereas the beach can be reached in three … perfect for days on the beach and then pootling back to Faoi for lunch al fresco in the garden. Ten minutes down through Swanpool nature reserve gets you on the coast path and the gateway to Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Beauty.
The house has been designed to be an easy-to-use family home but would be equally suitable for four couples with its generous bedrooms and spacious kitchen/dining room, with breakfast bar, Aga and two sitting rooms.

The front garden is nestled behind seven silver birches that shroud the house from Spernen Wyn Road, that leads down to the Blue Flagged, Gyllyngvase beach. To the rear of the house is a large, slate, patio with table and chairs for eight, slightly lower fire pit seating area, an array of abundant flowerbeds and a raised lawn. (Please note that there is a wildflower area with a pond at the far reaches of the garden that is left for biodiversity to thrive. Please do not explore up there. There is an old rickety trampoline and treehouse that we also advise is not used for safety reasons).
Parking
For up to four cars, nose to tail, on the private driveway.
