Location and Surrounding Area
Fox Cottage has the excellent fortune of being close to The Pandora Inn, one of Cornwall’s very best waterside pubs. This iconic, thatched watering hole has been a public house since the thirteenth century – so they’ve had plenty of practice pouring a drink or two! Delicious food is served out to the floating pontoon in the summertime and indoors throughout the year.
Walking possibilities are seemingly endless and circular walks abound from Fox Cottage. Head perhaps along the water’s edge and around the headland to Flushing. Or you might enjoy wandering through the woodland in the grounds of Trelissick House, a local National Trust gem.
The harbour town of Falmouth rightly has a reputation as a top destination for great food, super coffee, and brilliant independent shops. A thriving cultural scene too – from cinema and theatre to live Jazz – is always bubbling away behind the doors or in the open spaces of the town’s many pubs and venues. As are the array of local festivals that take place throughout the year – the International Sea Shanty Festival, and the Fal Oyster Festival, particularly, are well worth the short journey in for.
Cornwall’s southern coastline is defined by sheltered coves and peaceful rolling hills. For a dramatic landscape of rugged clifftops and bracing winds, however, Poldark country and the North Coast are just a forty-minute drive away.
