Location and Surrounding Area
At Port Pendennis, you can elect to hide away and relax within the village or step out and sample the delights of Falmouth. A minute or so’s walk takes you to Events Square, a hub for the numerous festivals running throughout the year in Falmouth. From the International Sea Shanty Festival in June, Falmouth Week in August, and even an Oyster Festival. Events Square is also the home of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, a drawcard for families of all ages.
Rick Stein’s seafood restaurant is very close by – just one of the many unique eateries, delicatessens, and boutiques within easy walking distance of Port Pendennis.
For beaches, look further than just beyond the doorstep. From Mariner’s Retreat, a 10 minutes walk takes you to lovely Gyllyngvase and Castle beaches, with their fascinating low-tide rock pools and clear swimming waters. Wander along the elevated Victorian seafront or perhaps try the circuit around Tudor Pendennis Castle: the views from Pendennis Point are breathtaking, and the route is dotted with benches to pause and drink in the scenery.
A recommendation from the sailing owners of Mariner’s Retreat is to wander down Falmouth High Street to the Prince of Wales Pier to book a special outing by boat. The Fal and Helford rivers, St Mawes, and Mylor are especially beautiful when viewed from the water, and there are many excellent excursions available.
