Location and Surrounding Area
A holiday is made special by a few key ingredients. For some people it’s a view, a brilliant local bakery, a sandy beach or perhaps a nearby pub. A stay at Port View in Falmouth offers all of this and more, making it the ideal place for a holiday in Cornwall.
Winchester gardens are right outside the door. One of Falmouth’s best-kept secrets, this terraced garden style area of public space is a wonderful addition to Port View.
Meander down the Old High Street, marvelling at the array of independent shops, coffee houses and antique emporiums that you’ll pass along the way. Be sure to pop into Stones Bakery for your bread or morning coffee, or book a Sunday lunch at the Star and Garter to enjoy elevated views across the harbour.
Your car can be left securely in it’s parking space, as there is so much to explore on foot. The beaches are a 20 minute stroll away through the town (but be sure to factor in more time to enjoy being distracted by the sights and sounds that you’ll encounter along the way…)
Get out on to the water from Prince of Wales Pier, a short walk from the apartment and the place to catch all manner of ferries and boat trips out to other waterside towns and villages such as St Mawes, Flushing, and beyond. Don’t forget to look back at Port View as you cross the harbour – and spot your window from the water!
Falmouth enjoys a thriving cultural scene, and is famous for its array of festivals that happen throughout the year. Port View provides the perfect place to stay during the Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival, taking place every June. Falmouth’s Oyster Festival, Beer Festival and Falmouth week are also not to be missed.
