Location and Surrounding Area

Falmouth, with its natural harbour (the third deepest in the world), winding streets and beaches, will keep you occupied for hours. Pendennis Castle, built by Henry viii, is Falmouth’s most popular attraction, sited on its own peninsula with superb panoramic sea views. While away the hours in one of Falmouth’s great independent coffee shops, such as Espressini and Solskinn, above The Poly. Hop on a passenger ferry to the beautiful Roseland Peninsular and pretty St Mawes. Treat yourself to lunch at the Tresanton or Idle Rocks. This is your holiday, so make of it what you will, but be sure to treat yourself.

Within walking distance of The Long Barn is the aforementioned Hooked on the Rocks for fresh seafood and the most breath-taking seafront dining experience around. Be sure to book way in advance. Also on Swanpool Beach is a café and its famous clotted cream and chocolate/sweetie clad ice-creams. Or follow the coast path north-east to Gylly and dine at the beachside restaurant, or snack from one of the mobile food vendors such as Tidal Coffee or Dough and Dowr.

We have had a wonderful stay at Long Barn. The cottage is so welcoming with lovely decor and accessories including little extras such as white company toiletries and lovely thick, white fluffy towels. The large bed is super comfy and we both slept well. The kitchen has good quality appliances, Cornish wear and Royal Doulton crockery and plenty of cookware and pots and pans that makes eating in a pleasure. . Additional extras including a variety of herbs and spices, Cornish sea salt selection, cling film and foils, cleaning materials and plenty of dishwasher tablets ensures that you have everything you need during your stay. The owners Giles and Sarah live next door and are both lovely and so helpful, especially keeping us well stocked in kindling and wood during the cold week, so we could cosy up with the wood burner. The cottage is set in a lovely part of Cornwall and so accessible to the beaches, Helford river, Falmouth and exploring the rest of Cornwall. We will definitely return.
