Location and Surrounding Area
Experience the friendly, laid-back vibe of Falmouth, walk down to the Greenbank Hotel and join locals as they sea swim from the pier. Head across town to Gyllyngvase beach where you can hire kayaks and SUPs to explore the Cornish coast from Blu Paddle Co. Grab a bite to eat on the beach from the Gylly Beach café, serving delicious breakfasts and lunches. Explore the town’s vibrant high street, filled with independent shops, restaurants and galleries. Ondine Ash filled with art and house plants, is a must-visit. Music and film lovers will enjoy Sounds Ok record shop, and Salt Art Supply offers a delightful range of cards, stationery and crafts. If you love the Great British Throw Down, why not take pottery for a spin with light-hearted and fun ceramics workshops at Studio Dor.
If you’re looking to catch some waves head to Gwithian Beach a favourite North Coast surf spot. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced surfer this long, sandy beach is a surfer’s paradise and one of the most consistent surf spots around. Two surf schools, one at each end, offer wetsuit and board hire, plus lessons. On sunny days, the turquoise blue water resembles the tropics. Near Godrevy lighthouse, a sunset surf is pure magic, with pastel skies and a warm glow. In autumn and winter, local seals often swim by, curious about the surfers and swimmers.

The house is wonderful, central location with fantastic views over Falmouth harbour. Quite close to the Boathouse pub, so expect loud live music on weekends till 11pm. House is tastefully decorated, and the sun deck and hot tub amazing. Two small suggestions, for older folk like myself, I’d prefer a TV Ariel so I can watch TV without streaming it. The kitchen would also benefit from more serving bowls. Minor points, but it is one of the best I’ve stayed in over the Falmouth area.Thank you so much for your kind review. We’re delighted you had such a great stay and that the views, location, and hot tub helped make it one of the best places to stay in Falmouth. We really appreciate your thoughtful suggestions. You'll be pleased to hear that the owner is in the process of arranging a TV aerial, so traditional viewing will be an option soon. We know how important that is for a relaxing evening in with your favourite television show. We’ll also add some extra serving bowls to the kitchen equipment. As for the nearby music, you’re quite right that the Boathouse pub hosts some live music evenings. These are fairly infrequent – around 10 events a year – but when the vent windows are open, sounds from outside can travel into the house. With the vents closed, the triple glazing makes a big difference, and we’re always happy to help guests adjust things for a quieter night. We hope we can welcome you back again soon to Falmouth. All the best, Sarah and the team at Cornish Holiday Cottages
