Opened in 2011, Dolly’s Tearoom is a dog-friendly wine house, gin palace and tapas eatery in the heart of Falmouth and housed in a beautiful Georgian building.
Owner Dolly, whose background stems from working for London-based magazines and newspapers, spent her spare time rifling through cookery and recipe books in bookshops. The eatery came about while she was chatting with friends about what they would really like from a bar/restaurant.
Serving tea, coffee, cream teas, sandwiches, afternoon tea and homemade cakes during the day, you can sit and people watch from the large sash windows which overlook Falmouth’s colourful bunting and bustling high street. In the evening Dolly’s transforms into a candlelit bar, serving delicious and filling tapas, wines by the glass and cocktails. Their huge selection of gins overspill the shelves in the barroom and fill a double-page spread on their menu, with over 350 different types to choose from.
Dolly’s is a traditional tea room serving tea and coffee, cream teas and sandwiches, afternoon teas and homemade cakes during the daytime, including delicious crab sandwiches and their famous treacle and lavender tart. Their ‘thunder and lightning’ cream tea is also a must-try with golden syrup in replacement of Cornish jam.
In the evening, tucked away Dolly’s transforms into a candlelit bar, serving delicious tapas, and wines by the glass, jug and bottle and a huge collection of gins. Cocktails are served in teapots and poured into vintage cups, with ice cubes in sugar bowls.
Dolly’s Tea Room is well worth a visit day or night.
