Moments at La Peniche
A vintage floating restaurant serving beautiful food that subtly evolves around the best of local produce from land and sea.
Tucked away on the historic North Quay of Falmouth, La Peniche is a vintage floating restaurant serving beautiful food that subtly evolves around the best of local produce from land and sea. The eatery offers dishes that have roots in French cuisine with a modern twist and a harbour view from every table.
Steeped in history, before mooring in Falmouth, the 1938 Delta barge offered dining cruises along the waterways of Burgundy and spent its early years as a Second World War gunboat.
Head chef Luc Wallace is new on the Cornish culinary scene but has plenty of experience cooking classical British and European fare. He spent the last two years working at one of Oxford’s most celebrated eateries, The Magdalen Arms, and prior to that The Kensington Arms owned by Josh Eggleton of Great British Menu fame.
Join them for nibbles and stay for a leisurely lunch from noon. Fill up with a selection of their small plates and indulge in an afternoon dessert, with great coffee from local roasters. Dining in the day means you can watch the bustling quay and water dwellers, from one of the most exclusive (and dog-friendly) spots in Falmouth.
By night the mood changes; elegant, sophisticated, and romantic. The interior is decorated with bespoke wooden tables which sit alongside the wall of windows, and plants decorate the shelves and hang from the ceiling. If you’re searching for a venue for the perfect date night, or intimate party La Peniche can offer you somewhere unique and memorable.
This eatery is a beautiful haven to meet up with friends and family and nurture yourselves away from the crowds. Rain or shine you won’t be disappointed.
On the menu, diners can expect to see dishes such as sea bass ceviche, moules mariniere, lemon glazed Cornish mackerel and pistachio panna cotta.
