Our Favourite Places for Brunch in Cornwall

Broaden your brunch horizons
If breakfast (or brunch) really is the most important meal of the day, then we're keen to make it an indulgent one. Where do those in-the-know head to when they have the time to sit in for a long, lazy, languorous brunch in southwest Cornwall?

Whether you’re craving pancakes for a sweet pick-me-up in the early afternoon, classic poached eggs on sourdough with smashed avocado, or you’re open to trying something new entirely, our list of the 7 best indulgent places to get brunch in southwest Cornwall covers all bases.

We’ve collated our favourite tried and tasted places and have also provided a little insight into what we tuck into when we’re there.

1. The Longstore Truro

After the successful launch of the first Longstore Restaurant in Charlestown, we’re delighted that they have now expanded to Truro. The menu is delicious, celebrating items such as homemade granola with seasonal fruits, wild mushroom arancini with black truffle oil and Lemon Street omelettes with ‘Nduja and 36-month aged Davidstow Cheddar’; a real luxurious treat with a Cornish twist.

2. IndiDog

With its beautiful brunch menu and idyllic sea-view setting, this family-run eatery is a secret you’ll want to keep to yourself. When it comes to Brunch, IndiDog in Falmouth certainly know how to do it right, and have gorgeous sea views so you can tuck into your late-morning fare while watching the boats bob in the harbour. On the changing menu is broad bean falafel served on flatbread and jalapeno yoghurt, grilled 3 cheese asparagus sandwich and banoffee pie pancake stack. You’ll leave feeling smug for having eaten so well and been somewhere so swarve, early on a weekend.

3. A Slice of Cornwall

If you’re looking for the ultimate weekend indulgence, Slice of Cornwall will certainly satisfy and leave a lasting impression. From generously loaded waffle stacks and indulgently topped vegan banana bread to Huevos Rancheros, Slice offers the most delectable dishes and tasty treats in an enchanting setting.

4.Good Vibes Café

Located on a busy street in Falmouth, Good Vibes Cafe is a place where you can go solo and relax with a book while you watch life in Cornwall pass by or catch up with friends surrounded by a vibrant environment. Dig into a hearty vegan breakfast with house beans and paprika hummus, slurp on a fresh berry smoothie or try their packed Signature Sandwich.

5. Espressini

Espressini is an independent coffee house and kitchen based in Falmouth’s west end, which opened in 2010. Its mission is to seek out the best beans, the best growers and the best-tasting coffee for you. Aficionados will adore the beautifully hand-roasted espresso blends, changed regularly, and foodies will adore the long list of menu options to eat in or takeaway. Our favourites include the house porridge, roasted squash, feta and spinach rolls and smashed avo bowls.

6. Bread and Butter

Bread and Butter is Truro’s hidden gem. With a garden courtyard tucked away at the back of the cafe, you can sit in the sun and be served a big breakfast with a smile. Our favourite items include their Famous American Pancakes, their Frittata made with St Mawes eggs and Cornish potatoes and their granola, house-redberry-compote-topped greek yoghurt bowl.

7. Potager Garden

Last, but certainly not least is the magical Potager Garden and café. Hidden in the depths of Cornwall near the little village of Constantine, North Helford, and nestled amongst the plum trees of Potager garden, in a converted greenhouse. Beautiful ‘potager’ refers to a French style of gardening that mixes ornamental and edible plants, some of which accompany and help make up the café’s delicious, vegetarian menu. Serving delicious homemade cakes and gorgeous breakfasts, the menu changes to keep up with the seasons but some of our favourite dishes include Turkish eggs and cauliflower fritter.
