Preparing For Your Stay

What is supplied

In every cottage you should find two tea towels, at least one loo roll per bathroom, a hand towel in each cloakroom and some basic cleaning materials, including dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. Please bring your own laundry liquid to ensure its suitability for you.
Dry condiments, such as salt and pepper cannot be cleaned, so please do bring all your own perishable items in the wake of Coronavirus. As many of our cottages are not next door to a shop and the cleaning team are hard pressed to get everything done on a changeover so we also cannot guarantee a supply of tin foil, cling film and grease proof paper.

Some cottages provide one bath and one hand towel per person, as part of the package, others not. The ‘Notes’ section of your holiday home’s web details will specify which, also your arrival instructions (that you will be emailed once you have paid the balance). If you are travelling from abroad or by public transportation please let us know when you book, or make final payment for your holiday, if you would like us to provide you with some hire towels (£5 per person).

What to bring with you

As above, please check your holiday home details to see if bath towels are provided. In nearly all properties we request that you bring your own beach towels. Other than that you need your clothing, (always best to be equipped for all weathers), your toiletries, sun cream, food and drink, a few good books, a camera and chargers for your devices.  Phone chargers are the number one thing left behind after departure, so please do take a minute before you leave to check the plug sockets for any still hanging around. Please do bring your own hairdryer if this is important to you, as whilst we do try to make sure there is one in each cottage, they are not guaranteed.

Your dog’s needs

We hope that your dog will feel very much at home in his/her holiday accommodation, but if they are likely to jump on the furniture, please be sure to bring a sufficient amount of clean throws to protect the sofas. I am sure your four legged friend will be very grateful to have his/her own bed on holiday. For the safety of your dog and the comfort of neighbours and in the interest of looking after your holiday home, please do not leave your dog/s unattended in the cottage or garden. Finally please check the garden and remove any remaining droppings before your departure.

Travelling with a baby/toddler

We are well aware that the smaller the child the more stuff they require on holiday and outings, so if you are fortunate enough to have one or two little treasures, then we will do our best to advise and assist you. Some cottages provide nursery equipment such as a cot/travel cot, high chair and/or a stair-gate. The ‘Notes’ section of your holiday home’s web details will specify exactly what. Should you not be able to bring your own then we have a few travel cots and high chairs in our office that we are happy to lend. Where possible we will arrange for the equipment to be delivered to your holiday cottage free of charge, as we are often out and about, but if this is not feasible then we may ask you to collect from our office in Mawnan Smith. Please do request nursery equipment as soon as possible, to ensure availability.

If you require a babysitter, then please ask for a list of registered childminders, many of which are personally known to us.

Books and games
As we are unable to clean all pages of books and the smaller elements of games, we request that you do not use those in the holiday homes until the Coronavirus is far behind us. Please bring your own and be sure to let us know your fave read this year, as part of the Cornish Holiday Cottages book club.
