The Little Nest is without a doubt the most chosen one-bedroom holiday home in the Cornish Holiday Cottages portfolio. Anne and Terry, our very own Superhosts are integral to this popularity. They reside in the adjacent house ‘The Nest’ and will ensure that all is sparkling clean and warm and welcoming for your arrival.

This purpose-built holiday home is situated in an elevated position, above the golden sands of Maenporth Beach and just a few feet from the southwest coastal path, where you will enjoy breath-taking sea views, quiet coves and incredible scenery.

Maenporth Beach and its café are a great source of crab rolls, hot drinks and ice-creams. For fine dining, The Cove Restaurant is less than 300m away. In March 2020 The Cove opened under the new ownership of the renowned Michael Caines. You may find yourself on their decking with a sundowner G&T more than once!

Back at the Little Nest you have two outside seating areas on either side of the accommodation giving you ample opportunity for enjoying those warm, sunny days and relaxing with that book you’ve been longing to read.

No stone has been left unturned when it comes to guest comfort in this charming holiday home. So dig out your walking boots, your swimwear and treat yourself and your favourite, (human, canine, or both) to a getaway at this south Cornwall slice of heaven.

Electronic vehicle gates from Maenporth Road open onto (fairly steep but short – no more than 25 metres) drive. Parking for one car on hard standing area at the bottom of the external staircase. A dozen wooden steps leads to the first floor level. Small gate opening onto large deck and front door to

The sitting area with generous, comfortable seating and 32″ flat screen Panasonic LCD T.V. with Freesat and separate D.V.D. player. This room enjoys lovely views, through the french doors, over the garden to the beach beyond. The french doors open onto a balcony with contemporary cedar wood and glass balustrade.

the large sunny deck, with picnic bench, at the rear of the property has
wonderful sea views to the headland beyond. The front balcony with table and two chairs enjoys views through the trees to the beach and sea. The beauty of having
two sitting out areas on either side of the building is that it affords you more time outside when the weather is favourable. Guests are most welcome to use the garden seating area too, with its lovely view out to Falmouth Bay. Dog owners can be assured that, under their supervision, their pets can roam around freely and safely in the securely gated and fenced grassy garden.

Location and Surrounding Area

On the south side of the beach, The Little Nest resides in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Just less than two hundred metres away is the acclaimed Cove Restaurant and Bar, known for its award winning chef, great service and avant-garde menu.

Mawnan Smith village (with post office, general stores, The Red Lion Inn, Awna Coffee House and the Oystercatcher gift shop) is just 1.5 miles.

For a good range of coffee shops, independent stores, delis and restaurants, Falmouth town is 3.5 miles and Truro is 12 miles.

The Helford River renowned for it’s safe sheltered waters is close by and there are many good beaches all around with Maenporth beach on the doorstep. Durgan is approximately 2 miles away on the Helford River and well worth a visit, as are the beautiful gardens at Glendurgan and Trebah nearby.

There is an 18 hole golf course in Falmouth and a 9 hole golf course at the Budock Vean Hotel (approx. 2 miles), as well as spa facilities, an indoor swimming pool and restaurant, all open to non-residents.

I remembered I had not submitted a review of our last Little Nest stay back in June. I'm always a bit undecided as to doing this, not because there are any issues, but selfishly I don't want too many people to know how good Little Nest is at the risk of us not being able to get it again in years to come. Anyway here it is: Back at Little Nest on what must be our 10th visit in c8 years, and 15/16s years of total bookings with Cornish Holiday Cottages who are also so very good. We were down in the Newquay area for a week prior and on transfer day Anne telephoned us to say Little Nest was all good to go several hours before normal takeover. They must have really pushed on getting things ready, and still ensuring Covid standard cleaning routines. Arrived and everything as normal all **** and span, spotless and the usual kind touches, warm welcome from Anne & Terry and their bouncy dogs, lots of fuss for our two dogs who know where they are immediately and what the routine is. Annes special touches of lovely bread, Cornish butter/milk, homemade marmalade and doggy treats. You do not have to bring anything here it's all there from kitchen roll/foil, bin bags to well equipped quality, kitchen, bathroom. bedroom living room. We just love it, settle in immediately and we are back in our second home. Neighbours, beach cafe, Cove and new owners at the little shop in Mawnan all welcomed us back. Read the book on the Helford River (bought at Cornish Holiday Cottages office last year) and found much of new interest and history about Maenporth, inc. the ancient (neolithic) site just up the lane. You don't need to stray far, Falmouth, Trebah, St Just, St Anthony and Heligan were about as far as we got. It is so pleasant just to sit and watch the beach/cove with a fruit juice or two! and take the dogs on the beach early morning/evening. Posted a pic on the Memory Wall. Back in 2023 (twice) and most likely before that as well, if we can squeeze in between the other regulars. The visitors books at Little Nest all echo and reflect my comments "Perfick"

Many thanks, Martin, for finding the time to write such a glowing and heartwarming review of your recent stay at Little Nest, by Maenporth. We are delighted to read of your adventures in Cornwall and of your adoration for the property, its location, and our company. It is a pleasure to read that you felt you had everything and more for your stay in Cornwall and of your mindful mornings listening to the ocean. We very much look forward to welcoming you back to Cornwall in the future. Warmest regards from all of us at Cornish Holiday Cottages
