Location and Surrounding Area
Ridifarne is set on the banks of the calm waters of the Helford River, a favourite of sea maunderers and lovers of tranquillity. The Shipwrights Inn, just a short passenger ferry trip across the south bank of the river and a gentle stroll, offers a different perspective on this beautiful area.
From Ridifarne you also have access to some of the most spectacular coastal walks in South Cornwall, as well as Trebah and Glendurgan gardens – both paradise for garden enthusiasts. The Budock Vean Hotel with its golf course, restaurant and spa open to non-residents and just five minutes away by car. A passenger ferry operates from Easter until 1st October, from the Ferry Boat Inn to Helford village.

Mawnan Smith and Constantine villages are just one mile and three miles away in opposite directions. Both have village shops, a pub and a great place to start some good round walks from. In Mawnan Smith there is Awna cafe, The Red Lion Inn, Spar stores and monthly farmer’s market in the village hall. Constantine has the hidden gem that is Constantine Stores with its incredible collection of wines and spirits.
The harbourside town of Falmouth is twenty minutes away if you take the scenic coastal route via Mawnan Smith village, Maenporth and Swanpool beaches. Falmouth is a vibrant student, artist and boat building town with a brilliant array of independent restaurants, cafes, boutique style shops, plus some high street fare and great galleries from which you may just be tempted to buy a holiday memento.
The rugged Lizard, the UK’s most southerly point, Kynance Cove, Kennack Sands, Coverack and other stunning beaches are around thirty minutes by car and will be sure to get your camera snapping. Bring layers, wetsuits, bathers, each towel and have fun getting wet.
