Falmouth
Above the beautiful harbour town of Falmouth is a well-kept secret. The Gig is that special place just waiting for you to discover. An extraordinary light-filled escape with high vaulted ceilings, and everything you could possibly need for a blissful holiday.
Ideally located to offer visitors the opportunity to be at one with this coastal town, The Gig is moments away from all the first-rate places to eat and drink that give Falmouth its reputation.
Previously part of the C17th gatehouse to Arwenack House, this nautical apartment has been completely transformed with floor to ceiling bi-fold windows on both floors uniting interior with exterior. From first thing in the morning as you awake to sunlight on the surface of the water, to the evening when the harbour is lit with moonlight and flashes of light from the portholes of boats – the views from The Gig are captivating.
With two well-proportioned bedrooms sleeping up to four people, this is the ideal base for your next Cornish holiday. You’ll be able to unwind after your adventure-packed days in luxury, reading by the fire or perhaps soaking in your freestanding bath.
We’re certain that the thrill you feel as you first cross the threshold will stay with you long after you have returned from your holiday…
Beautiful, curved, illuminated hallway. Doors to bedrooms, bathroom and stairs to:
Open tread glass and wooden stairs, flowing from hallway and to the left of the master bedroom.
Ample seating for 4, TV, Freeview, DVD player and floor to ceiling bi-fold windows with glazed safety panel creating the most wonderful fusion with the outdoor world. The harbour views promise an ever-changing scenery, even better with binoculars. Keep cosy in the cooler months with the Scandinavian style wood-burning stove.
Giant surfboard with glass top table, bench, chairs and reading nooks. This is a dining area to while away the hours with good food, drink and a card game that goes on into the small hours.
Double height, stunning light and airy space. Electric oven, grill, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, Belfast sink and washing machine.
Access to both bedrooms and bathroom
King size bed, bedside tables, clothes hanging, chest of drawers, TV, bi-fold windows and glazed safety panel.
Beautiful floor standing, double ended, slipper bath, corner shower unit, hand basin, WC, heated towel rail and if you raise the blinds – harbour views from the loo!
Super-king bed, or (please request in advance and have them separated to form twin beds). Bedside table, chest of drawers, clothes storage, TV and window recess for quiet reading.
For one car in an allocated space on nearby New Street. A parking permit for the space will be in The Gig for your use. There is free unreserved car parking for about 10 cars adjacent to the property.
It may be difficult to tear yourself away from relaxing at The Gig, but if you are able, you’ll find all that makes a holiday in Cornwall sublime right at your feet.
Falmouth is renowned for its array of independent coffee shops, bars, pubs and restaurants, most of which are within walking distance from The Gig.
The beaches are but a 15 minute walk away, along the beautiful tree-lined approach of Arwenack Avenue. At the end of the avenue is Falmouth’s train station, with the maritime line connecting at Truro to Penzance, St Ives, and mainline services to London and beyond.
You’ll be a stones throw away from Events Square, a cultural hub in Falmouth playing host to the numerous festivals that grace the town annually. Here you’ll also find the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, a must-visit for anyone with an interest in boats.
Boat trips can be taken from the bottom of the hill at Customs House Quay, allowing you to explore your view in person. Ferries to St Mawes and Flushing cross throughout the day. Take a boat trip to the Helford river, or hire a boat and be a captain yourself for the day.
Situated just opposite the old ‘Falmouth School of Art’, should the Arts be on your agenda you’ll find numerous independent galleries within easy reach. The Poly, an arts venue with film, theatre and weekly jazz nights through summer is the perfect spot to while away an evening.

I giving it 5 stars because I love it so much but it is looking a bit tired and could do with a refresh - floors in particular and upholstery needs cleaning. The view is exceptional - I’ve drawn and painted it several times.
