Bread & Butter

Based on River Street in Truro close to Truro Arts, Bread & Butter is a hidden gem tucked slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Cornwall’s capital.

Bread & Butter’s enclosed courtyard, complete with colourful bunting, strings of fairy lights, garden booths, and comfortable pillows, is a picture definition of a relaxing oasis in the heart of the city, and provides a rare chance to dine outside in Truro.

First opened in 2019 by Kate and Charlie Snell, they are driven by the simple pleasure of putting smiles on customer’s faces with great-tasting food and coffee, and their eatery’s unfussy name choice is based on this concept.

Taking pride in their indulgent brownies, triple-stacked, fluffy American pancakes, locally-sourced coffee, and wow-factor ciabattas, this is a must-visit for anyone passing through Truro.

Made with St Mawes eggs, pure maple syrup, house flour, and Trewithen buttermilk, the cafe’s pancakes are the talk of the town. Not for the faint-hearted (or those on a diet!), diners can choose anything from a 2-stack to a 6-stack and add toppings such as Cornish caramel, chocolate chip and banana, greek yoghurt, home-made berry compote, and granola. For those who are seeking something packed with nutrition, you will also find answers in their healthy frittatas, fresh smoothies, and topped yoghurt bowls.

The atmosphere in here is warm and friendly, the wifi is great for those looking for a working brunch spot, and to top it all off, they’re dog friendly!
