Koala

Koala is a flagship, eco-friendly coffee and music house based close to The Moor on Killigrew Street in Falmouth.

Here you will find premium coffee, bagels, baked goods, music events and pudding evenings. The building has been designed around the music to match and promote the owner’s own music with white, black and green colour palettes and warm lights to add to the calming aroma. This is a workspace with a zero-waste policy, showcasing chill music and premium apparel.

Having worked as a full-time composer and songwriter for Sony for the past year, owner Brandon founded Koala Karlous in 2020. In January 2020 Brandon bought an old working van Mercedes Sprinter and spent 2 months converting it into a solar-powered music studio, operating from Fistral Beach in Newquay. With a passion for sustainable living, he wanted to create music for the first time using solar energy and by July 2020, 18 songs were ready to drop. A name was needed for the alter ego and that was where Koala Karlous was born, a hub for the electronic chillers.

Following the success of the summer coffee van, Brandon was able to use generated revenue to open his own coffee house in Falmouth, which has always been a long-term goal of his.

The products Koala Karlous stocks are things you can’t get in your normal local supermarket and offers support to independent brands like themselves. The kombucha is from a group in Bristol, the lemonade is from a Swedish company. Orange juice is also freshly pressed in-house, the toasties and bagels are all made on-site each day. Pastries are sourced locally just down the road from Stones Bakery in Falmouth.

Pop down during the day for some good beats, bagels, and a well-being latte with matcha and turmeric. Visit in the evening for live music, hot brownies, and buttermilk waffles.
