Making Memories

New Yard Restaurant

New Yard Restaurant is a converted 17th century stable building which adjoins a craft gallery, in the former stable yard of Trelowarren Estate. Local produce and garden-grown ingredients guide the seasonal menus and the pantry provides an alternative small plate and takeaway menu from the rustic dine-in restaurant.

New Yard is set at Trelowarren in Cornwall, a private estate that has been owned by the same family for over 600 years. The restaurant is run by Caroline and Jeffrey Robinson. Previously granted awards for their creativity and innovation, in 2021, the New Yard was awarded a Green Michelin Star. An award that recognises gastronomy as well as sustainable practices at the forefront of the industry.

In keeping with its unique location and historic credentials, casual laid-back dining is the name of the game. On the changing menu you can expect innovative dishes and refined, unfussy dishes such as lobster with kiln-baked peppers, squash and roasted flowers and plum marshmallow sorbet, served alongside rustic sourdough loaves and wood-fired pizzas.

In the shimmery summer months, cocktails can be enjoyed al fresco in the stone courtyard, and when there’s a chill in the air, diners are invited to sit by the roaring fire. The Pantry, a former stable which belonged to the dining room’s coach house, is situated next door to the restaurant. Head to the pantry for homemade bagels, pastries, breads and cakes, along with coffees and their very own cider.

The New Yard restaurant hosts supper evenings, each week, Wednesday to Saturday. They invite diners to join them at 18:30, with the first course being served at 19:00 and tables offered to diners for the entire evening

Emily loves...

“New Yard Restaurant is a favourite of my chef Dad and for good reason. There’s also The Pantry next door for lighter bites, sandwiches and cakes. Vegans are not well catered for in the latter though, so plant based eaters had better not look in the direction of the decadent cakes!”
