Location and Surrounding Area

The historic harbour town of Falmouth is still a bustling port, so from Headlands you’ll see all manner of watercraft crossing the horizon, from tall ships to superyachts. And you can learn how it all came into being at the Tudor Pendennis Castle, just around the corner. After a short stroll down to the seafront you’ll arrive at Castle Beach, with its convenient café and playful rock pools.

An elevated promenade links Headlands to Gyllyngvase Beach, a sandy Blue Flag beach with clear swimming waters and a lively, glass-fronted café/restaurant. Explore the area by water, with paddleboard hire, tuition and guided tours from WeSup. Nearby, Ships and Castles, a fun indoor swimming pool on Pendennis Point, will be a huge hit with the children. We suggest, however, that the adults among you take a good book – and some headphones!

You can venture further with ease by taking a boat trip from Falmouth to St Mawes, or Truro, or along the Helford River. Or if you’d like to captain your own vessel, boats can be rented from Custom House Quay.

You’ll find plenty of restaurants and cafés and independent shops to indulge in throughout the lively streets of Falmouth – our favourites include a window seat at Star & Garter, a coffee at Espressini, and a browse for gifts in Willow & Stone.

We enjoyed our recent stay at Headlands. The house is large and has good off street parking. Ideal for a family holiday. The kitchen and bathrooms are slightly dated but clean, well equipped and very generous sizes. There's a large utility room with seperate washing machine and tumble drier which was ideal after a day at the beach. The property has brilliant sea views and is in a good location. It took around 25 minutes to walk to the shops, pubs, restaurants etc. Handy location to walk to a couple of beaches and Pendennis Castle too.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Headlands. We’re so pleased you found the house spacious, well-equipped, and a good base for exploring Falmouth's beaches, restaurants, and shops on foot. It’s wonderful to know the sea views and parking added to your stay – it definitely brings peace of mind having somewhere easy to park. We’d love to welcome you back for another family holiday by the Cornish coast. Best wishes, Sarah and the team at Cornish Holiday Cottages
