Location and Surrounding Area
Nestled in the lower half of a former coastguard cottage, By The Sea enjoys one of Falmouth’s most enviable positions. Just a two-minute stroll brings you to Castle Beach, with its charming café run by the ever-welcoming Emily, whose passion for good food and coffee shines through every cup. On blustery autumn days, settle in with a warming macchiato in her cosy nook, while in the brighter months, beachcomb for shells, explore the rock pools, or simply watch the tide roll in.
A leisurely wander along the shore at low tide takes you to Gyllyngvase, a Blue Flag beach much loved by locals and visitors alike. Here you’ll find a lively café, a popular restaurant and, of course, the Tidal Coffee van – an institution in its own right.

The National Maritime Museum Cornwall is only a ten-minute walk from the apartment, set against the masts and sails of a private marina. The waterfront at Discovery Quay is also home to a choice of eateries, from long-standing favourite The Shed with its cocktails and waterside charm, to family-friendly spots for pizza, burgers and coffee.
In town, you’ll be spoilt for choice with independent cafés and restaurants. Sabzi Deli tempts with its vibrant salads and bakes, Indidog pairs excellent service with harbourside views, while the likes of Espressini, Beacon Coffee, Good Vibes and No.45 ensure coffee lovers are never disappointed.
