Mawnan Smith is surrounded by open-access countryside carefully managed by the National Trust. It’s a destination of choice for dog-lovers due to it’s closeness to an abundance of year-round dog-friendly beaches.

Twin gardens of Trebah and National Trust Glendurgan wind down to the shoreline of the Helford River. Each has an award-winning display of rare and exotic plants, which thrive in the mild microclimate found here. Trebah is famed for its prize Magnolia in the Spring, and Glendurgan leads down to the pretty waterside hamlet of Durgan.

The nearest beach to Mawnan Smith is Grebe, where the crowds can be escaped and the water is so clear you might be forgiven for thinking that you’ve left Britain entirely. Other beaches like Nansidwell are equally peaceful. The waters of the Helford River are perfect for Stand-Up Paddleboarding, Kayaking, and all sorts of other watersports.
